Description of the wine Riesling Roche Granitique 2023
Riesling is a grape variety that fears drought but paradoxically expresses itself better on well-drained and stony soils. Being a late ripening grape variety, Riesling will need soils that warm up easily but capable of providing a regular water supply. The granite geology may seem austere on the surface, but the two-mica granites of Turckheim degrade easily, allowing the vine roots to grow in depth. In a dry vintage like 2023, it was necessary to control the growth of weeds to avoid too much competition with the vines. Sugar maturation was very slow in 2023 and the harvest took place much later than initially planned. Despite the drought, fermentation was vigorous to end up with a very dry wine.

Tasting notes
01/2025: pale yellow colour. The nose on opening the bottle shows a slight reduction typical of the vintage but evolves very quickly on beautiful citrus aromas, aromatic herbs, and offers a crystalline mineral sensation. The palate is precise, expressive and racy. We find all the characteristics of the granite terroir with a generous saline acidity. The finish is racy, strict, dry with a delicate structure. The 2023 vintage is a wine of great finesse.

The Brand Grand Cru of Turckheim
In the Brand, this variety acquires finesse and elegance (floral and fruit aromas) without ever becoming coarse or too heavy. The Brand always surprises by the precocity of its wines, but whilst expressive young they also have a great ability to age. The nature of this terroir makes it easy to obtain an optimal ripeness whilst retaining a fine acidity
